In many small towns across America the old flea markets have become crowded with people who are actively trading and buying and selling. In times of trouble perhaps you might trade gold for food or even safety but can you eat your gold?
Barter Better than Gold?

What do you think you might need in the event of an emergency?
In many ways the idea that barter may be worth more in the near future than gold is something that is almost inconceivable however, one thing that so many people seem to think that buying gold is a great way to keep ahead of inflation, however, what would happen if you found that money became worth less and less what would you do then?
Who would trade food for gold?
If there were an emergency could you buy food with gold? If there were a flood and only very limited water was available, who would trade gold for life? Think about that for a moment and you will see that perhaps gold is not as great of an investment as you might think. The gold merchants seem to want you to believe that gold is the only thing that will be valuable in the event of another great depression, which many feel is very possible if we do not get some good leadership in congress.
The idea that we are facing the worst financial situation in more than 40 years, yet people are running around attempting to get other people to buy gold, as the dollar shrinks they gold merchants want to sell you something that may not help you at all.
Gold may never be sold for nothing but you cannot eat what may or may not be worth the price you paid for it.
Folks know this, just because you have a gold coin does not guarantee that you will have food to eat when you are hungry. In fact the only people who are making money in the gold market right now are those people that are selling gold.
So consider wisely if you are actually doing the right thing when buying gold. There are a number of factors in owning precious metals, the price of these commodities are perhaps the least considering that when it comes right down to it, there are really only three things a person needs, Food, Shelter, Clothing. Which is why Barter could become the new trading currency and it might be here sooner than you think.
barter has been around almost since the beginning of time and while we cant prove it we suspect that it has been in use even before money, it only makes sense after all.
